The size of a tent is normally described by the maximum number of people that can sleep inside, eg 2 man tent, 2 person tent, or its number of 'berths', eg 2 berth tent.
Sounds simple doesn’t it? But it needs to be thought out carefully. Remember you’ll probably need space in your tent for living, not just for sleeping, and if you’re backpacking with a friend, don’t forget you will both have gear to stow. You could get around this be using a 3 man tent, with perhaps a small porch area. Don’t forget, the extra weight can be overcome by splitting the tent up into two parcels and each of you carrying one.
Wanting a compact & lightweight 2 man tent? We stock a good range of 2 person tents which are ideal for bikers, hikers and festivals. Tents such as the Kampa Brighton 2, at only £49, would make an ideal two man tent for a festival. The cost split between you won’t break the bank, and at just a fraction over 3.5 kg, the weight split between you shouldn’t be too much of an issue.
If you’re looking for something altogether more light weight as a 2 person tent, then the Wild Country Coshee 2, with alloy poles, and weighing just under 2kg should be a brilliant 2 berth tent for a couple of backpackers.
At the other extreme, we sell larger 2 man tents, which are ideal for a couple who are car camping - they are a good size and you can stand up in them. Tents such as the Cabanon Chic Chocs, with its distinctive traditional style, and the Sunncamp Silhouette 200 would be ideal for two people camping for a weekend.
