What is a footprint groundsheet? The tent footprint groundsheet is a groundsheet protector - a separate flat groundsheet manufactured very slightly smaller than your tent footprint, and is placed under the main groundsheet. It is used for protecting the main groundsheet, especially when camping on rough ground.
Footprint groundsheets (or groundsheet protectors) have become much more popular in recent years, partly down to the increased popularity of sewn-in groundsheets. Sewn in groundsheets are a great idea, but when you are packing your tent up, if your sewn in groundsheet is muddy or dirty, you stand the chance of getting your tent dirty when you fold it up. Using a footprint groundsheet also reduces the chances of the sewn-in groundsheet being punctured by something sharp on the ground, so a tent footprint groundsheet is an ideal stone protection sheet. If we don’t stock the footprint for your tent, we may be able to order one. For enquiries, please call us on 01452 742233.
